Stupid question...

I just hooked my Pioneer Audio Receiver and everything is hooked through the pioneer( TV DVD BD HD Satellite).

My question is do I always have to turn on my Pioneer A/V receiver to watch TV?

Is there away around it? I don't always want to hear Surround sound.

One way is to try it by not turning the receiver on:D
Most likely it will not work and in that case, you need to run a video cable to the TV from the Satellite box, If it has another HDMI out, use it and the audio will be there or should be there to the TV or run a component and digital audio to the TV.
Yes, it is an issue when you have the system and TV and at times just the Tv and its speakers will do.
