Ordered a replacement bulb for my dads rear projection Sony Grand Wega KDF 46E2000 {about 3yrs old, warranty expired and extended warranty people out of business
}, he was getting the replace bulb soon warning. So I ordered a Sony replacement from VANN'S via Amazon, went over to put bulb in, easy- now sweat. Fired it up, red stripe along the top 3-4 inches of TV and it seemed reddish overall. Called Vann's, answered promptly, put on hold for tech. Tech comes on says could be a alignment issue with color wheel, know issue with this series. He gives me Sony's Number, call talk, talk, hold, talk, connects me to a special department handling this series {hmmmm
} There solution {s}-
A} fix TV and extend warranty for free
B} send him a new 32" LCD
Said we were not real impressed with the whole thing, TV has already had 2 services calls and not to likely to get another Sony...blah...blah.
Then they offer more alternatives, choice of 4 Bravia line TV's { 2- 46" and 2 - 52", prices from $140-550}. Long story short, for $225 + tax {free shipping} Sony is sending him a SONY BRAVIA KDL 46V5100 {list price $1800, Amazon $1259}. We had to send them the tag off the back of the TV, whole thing should take about 2 weeks, we'll see. Just thought some might be interested.
