Cr*p! I started another thread, because I didn't notice this one - probably because of the thread title...
I'm quite certain that I won't be seeing this either. I'm not thrilled by 3D and yeah, the majority of it is definitely chick-themed. However, I love old ships, so I enjoyed that aspect from the original.
The 100th anniversary of the sinking is actually a pretty big deal in my neck of the woods, because of Halifax's connection with the sinking. There are memorial services planned, Titanic-themed dinner theatres, etc.
The recovery vessels sailed from Halifax and the recovered bodies were brought back here. 150 of them are buried in local cemeteries. Tourists make a point of going to see the graves. I've lived here for 30 years and still haven't seen them. One somewhat amusing bit of trivia, is that there is a "J. Dawson" in one of those graves. And, of course, some people assumed it was the "real" Jack Dawson. Girls were leaving flowers, movie tickets,
undergarments and even
hotel room keys at the grave.
It turns out that he was Joseph Dawson, a crewmember who worked in a boiler room, shovelling coal.
