A rookie with an unusual question

I recently added an enclosed back porch to my home.
I now want to add a tv and some sound.
I started looking at home theater systems when i came up with this brainy
idea.....
Can i take a car stereo & speakers, and tv, and turn it into a system?
The car stereo (pioneer) is fairly new and i'm no longer using it.
Is this possible??
I could build some boxes for the speakers to dress things up.
I guess i'm not real concerned about having am/fm radio capabilities,
but i mainly want the tv to drive the speakers.
(for sporting events, nascar, etc.)
Any thoughts?
thanks

It is possible, but what are you going to power it all with? That stuff operates on 12vdc.

J,
thanks for the reply.
I was thinking a power inverter would do the trick.....I dunno....
Ok, lets get real basic.
Forget about using the tuner. Can i hook the 4 car speakers up
to a TV?
I thought i heard once that this will not work because of the
difference in OHMs.... Is this correct?
I'm mainly just trying to add some sound, without having to go
to the expense of another HT System.
I have a yahama system now in the house and i love it.
JUst trying to save some bucks and put some fairly new car
equipment to good use.
Any advice is appreciated.
thanks

Technically it CAN work though it depends on the amp specs for the TV and how available a speaker level output is.

Realistically, you can build/buy better speakers/small amp that will do a MUCH better job for little less money.
