This video just popped up on my radar and I'm watching it now. It's amazing how much the dollars per watts have dropped over the years, but adjusted for inflation we're paying roughly the same amount for higher end gear as we did back then.

Awesome video. I lived through that era with my 25 wpc Nikko receiver back in 1978. Man I was seriously under powered! :) Thanks Pogre!

I'd bypassed that video but started it since @Pogre recommended it. I figured I lived it, what are they going to tell me now? :) I had a Fisher hand me down to start in 72, then shortly thereafter got the Marantz 2270, which I had settled on before moving on to separates in the early 80s and then the receivers just didn't matter. My brother had a killer JVC (with a massive 85wpc I think) at the time. Got to play with tons of them at various friends' houses, too. Don't miss them, tho. They had issues and lacked features I enjoy today. Sure, you can repair them easier (maybe, those guys are closing down, a couple in the nearby city have already done so).
