My family really pulled a good one on me to celebrate reaching the half century mark. The short version is:
A call from my 23-yr old daughter to be ready to go to an undisclosed location at 0530 on Saturday.
She picks me up in Columbia SC, and drives west to Augusta GA.
We board a plane in Augusta to go to Atlanta, still no indication on final destination.
Make a connection in Atlanta to go to Detroit. I now know we are going to a Red Wings game, since she and I are both fans.
Arrive in Detroit and proceed to Joe Louis Arena. The tickets are for a skybox, cool.
Enter skybox and my wife and sons which I left that morning in SC are there (they took a direct flight), plus my brother and his son flew in from DC!
Not done yet. Tina from the Red Wings PR department has wife, daughter, brother, and me follow her to ice level, where I get a ride on the Zamboni as it preps the ice for the 1st period.
Return to the skybox to see a 3-1 victory over the Av's with plenty of pizza, beer, burgers, and dogs!
What a day, what a day, go Wings!
A happy and humbled,
