A question regarding wattage

I plan on purchasing Mordaunt Short MS300SYS Surround Sound Speaker Package with MS309W Subwoofer and a Denon AVR-2805 reciever. The Mordaunt-Short 302 Satellites Speakers that comes with the package are rated at 15-80 Watts RMS while the Denon receiver has 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms or 135 watts per channel at 6 ohms. My question is would I be at risk of damaging my speakers with a setup like that? My receiver would be delivering more watts then my speakers could handle or would I be able to make adjustments that would lessen the risk? I currently own a Sony HTIB and I think I am ready to trade up for something better

More than likely you would not have 100W x 7 as the wattage would be much lower with all channels driven. I could see you exceeding the 15-80W if your are using stereo mode or listening at high volume levels. If you keep the volume down, you should have no problems at all....but where's the fun in that?

Is this the Mordant system? http://www.wildwestelectronics.net/-ms300sys.html

Looks like those speakers have a sensitivity of 86db. You might need the power just to drive those buggers. Odd, they seem to rate the speakers at 4-8 ohms. Which is it?

How big is your room? Those should do well enough in a smaller room and you'll get decent volume without overdriving them. If you're in an auditorium though... ;)

The sensitivity rating on those speakers are 86dB. You're going to need every bit of that receiver's power to get them going. You may even consider a model up if budget permits.

Yes those are exactly the speakers I was talking about but I am not sure if I want them anymore. I am seriously considering getting the axiomaudio midi 175 speaker package instead. The size of my room isn't big (it's 12x20) but I think maybe these speakers would serve me better. At least there not much more expensive than the Mordant system.
