a question about spl's

I saw plans for someone's homemade loudspeakers on this website and he said that when building loudspeakers, the sensitivity's of the drivers being used should match , now do they have to match or can any of them be slightly off from each other, for example can these drivers be ok to use
if ratings were - woofer {spl-91} midrange{spl-89} tweeter{spl-90.
or should they be as close as possible cause i'm assuming using a woofer
with an spl of 88 and a tweeter with an spl of 94 would be too far off?

No, they don't have to match exactly. You can bring them in with a good crossover design. Building good loudspeakers is difficult to do properly. I recommend reading the loudspeaker design cookbook before you build anything. Driver choice is a long and difficult prospect. So is driver configuration. It can be fun and rewarding, it can also be very frustrating! Parts express, speakerbuilding.com, and speaker city are all good resources. Good luck!

thanx

Thanx vynilforlife i'm still learning all i can before i can start this project and i do plan on buying the loudspeaker design cookbook, so i'll know more when i do. i very much like the look of the Paradigm S8 with the 4 woofer design, i'm
thinking of doing something similar but with 4-8 inch woofers instead of 7's.
