I apparently have to put together a new system

i recently got Paradigm Studio 100v5 (incredible sound!!) Current amp can't do them justice.
looks like i will be adding an onkyo sr 876 for now and then an emotiva
while I'm at it

What's a decent center to match? Don't break me financially.. Is the matching Patradigm Studio Center good? or can i do better for the money or less.

My current center, rears (bi polar) and sub are Atlantic Technologies
about 8 years old ( i will replace eventually also but i will keep cuz of finances for now)

Thanks for you help

I have the same speakers and I suggest the cc690...they sound incredible together. I also have the 876 and it supplies plenty of power but I am going to get an anthem A2 soon just for the fronts.

Your best bet is to get a Studio center. I've tried combining brands for mains/centers with mixed results. Sometimes it worked fine, other times it was terrible. If price is an issue, I'm willing to bet that the v.3 or v.4 would still be a good sonic match with the v.5. That's if you aren't too picky about the different shapes of the cabinets and not being real wood. Good call on the Emotiva amp down the road. My v.4 100's absolutely love the added power of the XPA-2. You will notice a big jump in performance.

Get the matching unit

You absolutely do not want a discontinuity between the center and front speakers; especially in this price range. Get either the (large, not the small) matching Studio v.5 center or a third S-100v5 to use as a center.

Please keep in mind that you can also use the CC-590 just as well... It really depends on the size of your room... small room, the 590 will be more then adequate, even is a medium size room. Large room, best to go with the 690.

The only difference with it will be how low it can reach, and how much more power it can handle giving you a bit more SPL with the 690 - but if you are crossing over to a sub, chances are - you are and don't necessary need the extra couple of deeper hz the 690 provides...

Good luck on your decision...

For some reason the cc690 seems to have great mid and vocals sound really crisp and clean to me . I dont utilize its bass since running with my Ultra I have all my speakers set to small . I think you cant go wrong with either the 590 or 690 but I have no regrets getting the 690 , its very impressive visualy and sounds beautiful in all areas .
