Hi, it just hit me a while back that a clap on system for turning on and off a stereo system would actually pretty cool and convienient.. some people might disagree, but was wondering, and gizmos out there yet that allow you to do so (i'm not talking about the clap on for lights -80's).. or has anyone wired one of the existing clap ons to their system?

Thanks.

Jason,

I'm with you here. I put a "clapper" on my home theater system after I read your note. The genius! It works great. Its probably the best tweak I've ever done and my 85 year old mother in law loves it when she comes to visit.

Do you have any other ideas to share?

How exactly does that work? Once you "clap it on" then you have to use the remote or the unit itself anyway, so what is the point?

I think you are over thinking this. Clap ON. Clap OFF. No need for your remote control anymore.

No, I don't think I am over thinking it. It claps on and off, but when you have to change inputs, get a dvd to play, or tune in your favorite station you need a remote or a control panel. Having a clap on, clap off system is just about as gimmicky as an eject button on a remote.

Had a friend in college once that put up a string of pepper lights near his speakers, attached to a Clapper. Whenever they would play music the beat would be enough for the clapper to flash the lights on and off to the music... Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

Herr Eickhorn, have you had an issue with that at all? Just wondering... Other than that, the convenience level notwithstanding, the novelty of it is pretty cool! :)

My "4:20" question is:

What would the clap on/off system do if you started playing a "live" recording?
