I don't know what the gain on my amplifiers are and I need to know because I was thinking of bi-amping my speakers. I have a Carver M1.5 amp, Rotel RB-870BX amp , Integra DHC-80.1 and JBL L7 speakers. I would appreciate some advice on whether or not these amps gain matches up. I searched google to try to figure out if they are compatible and now my head hurts. Any advice about this set up would be appreciated.

JBL is specific about biamp. The amps should be the same models. I bi-amped my L7 using my two extra channels on a 7 channel ATI with tremendous results. But try it and see how it sounds. Can’t hurt.

Seriously, I have no life.
Look at the spec sheets and check the total gain and input sensitivity. Those are what you need, in addition to the max output voltage WRT impedance.

At any SPL, using two channels for passive bi-amping results in the same benefits as using a single more powerful amplifier, at the same SPL. More headroom, using less of the available power from the amplifiers. Sure, the distortion will be in the range that applies for each channel at that power level, but it's not going to be the same as operating the amplifier at WOT. It's not more power at a given SPL, but the possible SPL at full power is greater.

Oh it can hurt if you're not careful! I can say from experience the risk is not worth the reward. There is nothing to be gained from bi amping passive speakers.

Yeah, like forgetting to remove the jumpers and frying your brand new Monolith 7. There are risks involved anytime you fart around with your electronics like that. Even if the risk is doing something stupid.

Guys, I'm so sorry, but I can't find a thread about my question. But my last thread was deleted...
So... I got a question.
I want to buy eq pedal, but I know only GE-7 Equalizer (because I found it in my dad's garage). And it adds lots of noise.
I don't know much about guitar accessories, but I really want to. I need your help!
Hi jack. As this is a mostly home theater and stereo forum, you might not get a lot of traction. I would try musicians friend, or sweetwater, or a guitarcentric forum.

I don’t know much about EQ pedals for Guitars but take a look at This Link and you may find some information to help fix the one you have and if not it is likely a discussion board that can give you information on what others you may want to consider as a replacement.
