only fail which I see here is android - It doesn't support HD audio codecs. Even in product description is say so "Dolby and DTS"

There are actually tons of boxes like this one, but as long it's running android - no thanks.

If it was straight OpenElec (aka kodi on linux - a different story)

I've been considering going the Kodi / Raspberry Pi route. It just hasn't made it up my priority list yet to start looking into it seriously.

Have you played around with a Pi yet?

My bro in law has built a couple and he loves them. I just haven't made it around to it yet.

I could see some great DIY projects and Maker projects using the Pi.
