A good deal for this receiver?

As a relative newbie I would appreciate any help I can get regarding this deal. I am thinking about going for this refurbed Onkyo Tx-sr706 and buying the WARRANTECH extended plan from accessories4less. Here it is: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/ONKTXSR706BLK/Onkyo/Tx-sr706-Thx-100w-X-7ch-Theater-Receiver-Black/1.html

What do you guys think of this? I tried to do some research on WARRANTECH with little success, but I believe they are reputable. Accessories4less also seem to be a good reseller. They are an authorized Onkyo reseller, so that is good. The receiver also seems to have really good reviews, solid upscalling, and because it is refurbed it comes in just about at 400.

I am a little hesitant about the refurb, but with the extended warranty (1 year to 3 years) I think I should be all right, but your opinions will of course be considered.

What do you guys think?

You may try insuring through square trade instead if you are worried. Make sure you read every detail of the warranty. Know your rights and what it actually does.

Never mind about the Warrantech warranty. After a little more research I have found nothing but bad news on that company. Do not go there. Any other suggestions other than square trade? I will take a look at them.

Online reviews don't say much. You need to read the lingo of their contract. I personally suggest you self insure on small products.

Basically set aside money for every purchase for your own extended warranty. Eventually it will add up to enough where you can replace or repair faulty equipment with ease.

I like your idea for stocking away a little for a "personal warranty." Not a bad idea.

As for Warrantech, they have had over 400 complaints filed against them to the BBB in the past 3 years and have garnered an F rating. And that is only for one of their companies. The BBB listed close to a dozen subsidiaries and alias company names that I did not check. So again, stay away.
