That's crazy. RIP Jeff. How many guys get inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame twice?!

I was messaged by a friend about this when I was driving. Such a sad day for music and guitar lovers.

I got to hang out with Jeff and Simon Phillips around '81 before seeing them live at the SB County Bowl. Funny part was me and my friend Dave didn't know who they were. We met them in a park near the bowl and started hanging out with them. Then we walked to the show with them. Once there, we were like darn, those guys got backstage passes. Next, we saw them backstage and thought they were roadies. LOL. Didn't figure it out until they came on. Got to remember, back then there was no social media and albums like Blow By Blow and Wired didn't have clear images of him.

In 1965, Jeff Beck, in The Yardbirds, was the first ‘guitar hero’ I was aware of.

I’m sorry to hear of his death. RIP

What a gut-punch......Only saw his bands a few times, but heard Wired and Blow By Blow when I worked at a music store, in the early-mid '70s- one of the salesmen brought his Roberts open reel tape recorder to the store, so they could demo PA equipment and it often played all day. It was a real eye-opener for a 15 year old.

Of the three who went through The Yardbirds (Clapton, Beck & Page, in order), Beck is the one who DIDN'T stagnate after drugs and alcohol polluted their minds, he kept changing, veering when everyone was going in a straight line and was never satisfied with the same ol', same ol'. He played his last gig a few days ago and it was with the same intensity as his others. He played more styles than most and he played them very well.

And then, there was his obsession with cars- I watched an interview (might even be this one), where he described himself by saying "I'm just a gearhead who plays guitar well enough to support his car habit".

I’ll be honest prior to reading this post, I was not aware of him. I’ve been listening to him for the past hour and a half. WOW!! I should’ve been in bed a while ago, but he’s an incredible artist.
Started with Blow by Blow and now Wired, which is in Dolby Audio through Apple Music (5.1). Just amazing. I have more exploring to do of Mr. Beck’s music, just not tonight.

Listen to tracks from each of his records, in chronological order and pay attention to the ways he changed from one to another. More than anyone I can think of, he reinvented himself every time he recorded an LP., CD, DVD, whatever. Watch live performances- The Crossroads Festivals and Live At Ronnie Scott's are excellent performances and watch the most recent live shows, then think about the fact that the video below was from last September, when he was 78 years old. I don't call him 'old'. My parents' generation would have told him "Act your age!".

Playing 'Truth' this morning . Plus I always liked his jams with bass player Tal Wilkenfeld, they just clicked.

I've seen a few "stories" alluding that he and Tal had a love child!

I always heard the name, but never got into his music. But I've been listening for two days now. It seems his type of music changed over the years. I've been listening to the early stuff and it's rather bluesy. Very nice. RIP, Mr. Beck.

It's more interesting than the title indicates....

Which part, Beck's comments, or the one who was talking about him? I skipped around in this and several other videos with something like "Tragic details before his death' in the title, but have seen nothing from him that indicated an upcoming medical problem.

Got any sources? I doubt his wife would have stood for that and as soon as she left his group, she was touring with Herbie Hancock & others, writing music for her own band and touring with that, opening for The Who on her first outing. Never seen her pregnant, never heard about this and it would be a great way to put a roadblock in her path.
