So, I finally bought myself a sub for my audio system in my room.

It's a Klipsch Sub10. I know, it's not a $600 beast or anything like that (I literally paid $110 for it, because I had $100 in gift certificates to Best Buy and it was already on sale for $209.) I like it a lot, shakes my room a lot and it delivers tight bass. I have a couple of questions though:

1. Where is the optimal place to place it in my room? My room is not a square, rectangle or anything, I have an angled corner that I moved it to last night, and it seems to deliver more bass than where I had it before (which was in the middle of the wall on the other side of my room, in relation to where I usually am. I read this article ) I have noticed that as I move around my room there is less bass in some areas than there is in others (ie in the corners of my room, there is a ridiculous - almost too much - amount of bass, whereas in other areas of my room there is very little bass.)

2. The cabinet vibrates a bit (probably because it's terrible build quality) is there anything I can do about this?

3. What are your guy's opinions on this thing? I can't complain at all, seeing as how I am using it mostly for music (Muse, Steely Dan, Donald Fagen's solo album "Morph the Cat" has TONNES of bass on it, especially Security Joan.) and it works for me, being in a pretty small area.

Congratulations!

For placement, I'd suggest checking out some of the Tips & Tricks on "Get Good Bass" on the AH main page. There's at least one article on placement in there.

Sub crawl

I had a Klipsch sub10 ( actually I still have it in now in garage system :) ) and they are pretty good subs. In addition to reading the article Adam suggested another way to find the best sound is to move your sub around (sub crawl) to different places in you room until you find a place ( that you can permanently leave it at :D ) that sounds best to you.

Good Luck!

Where would this optimal location be? Would it be where I feel/hear the most bass? (The opposite corner of the room) This is not a workable location to put the sub, because I have a bedside table there taking up space, and there wouldn't be enough room for it anyways.

WOW!!! I must say! This sub just keeps on giving and giving! I put Mushaboom (Mocky Mix, off of Open Season) which has a lot of bass, and cranked my receiver with just the sub on (no other speakers, cause I knew I'd go deaf if I tried that) and it doesn't give up! It's awesome!! I [/i]did[/i] notice however, that I got port noise at one point in I Am Legend at a lower volume. Any ideas why?

Okay then, next question. Is there anything wrong with leaving the sub on all the time? I dont like having to turn it up to a certain level to have it activate itself. Is there anything wrong with just leaving it on as opposed to just having it on auto?

1.Put the sub in the spot where you are usually sitting. If its a certain spot on your bed, move the bed aside and place the sub there.

2.Crawl around on the floor and listen to where the bass sounds the best to you. This will work in reverse.

3. Move the sub to the aforementioned spot, sit down on the bed and enjoy, you now have optimal sub placement!

note: Unless you have multiple subs its not really possible to have "perfect" sound everywhere, you will always have peaks and voids due to room acoustics. you can only minimize these with proper placement and tuning.

Will do! Power? I left it on overnight last night and it seemed fine. Is that okay?
