A few questions for yammi 2500 users...

I know the 2500 is old news now with the rising popularity of the 2600, but HDMI switching is so far outta my league for now I went with a 2500 for about half of retail....couldn't be happier with this receiver, by far the best one I have owned. I just have a few questions for current owners of the 2500... First off, I am only using this receiver for 2ch music listening until I am rich enough for a descent TV, so that being said..... Do you use the parametric EQ, and if so what freqencies do you increase and/or decrease? or do you use the tone controls or both? I have got it set up for the most part now, but I really loved the sound of my yamaha DSP-A1000, the 2500 sounds like a yamaha for sure, but i'm just curious if anyone would know what tone rolloff and eq settings the older yammi's used? it would be really cool to make this new fangled one sound a little more like my old one, but hey you can't have your cake and eat it too i suppose... thanks for your valued input.

Hey Audioman,

I also own the 2500 and use it in a 2.1 setup. At the moment, I'm experimenting with the differnece in sound between the parametric equalizer and the tone controls. The YPAO setup uses both, which I'm kind of reluctant to use...I think using one or the other would be best, as far as electronics goes. But I also owned an older receiver before, and noticed that this new one is very transparent and has much different volume controls (ie, the -35db setting on the new one is much quieter than the -35db on the old one). I think that to get best sound from this machine, you would want to use it as a pre/pro connected to an external amplifier. To me, the sound is a little thin, and not nearly as dynamic as the local review says it is.

Hope it helps a little...
