A day at the toy store.

I spent some time with my Era dealer yesterday and ordered up a set of Design 3 for surround duty. In this shop, he also carries Focal.JMLabs, Dynaudio, Monitor Audio, Epos, Role Audio, Orb, Castle, Triangle, AE and God only knows what other speaker brands, as well as Creek, Moon/Simaudio, Sherwood Newcastle and other various electronics that I've never heard of. It's paradise of speakers and SS/tube gear, hybrid tube CD players, high end turntables and such.

Among the fascinating things I saw/heard:
The AEGO-M series - a fascinating mini system that fills a room with speakers barely larger than an i-Pod. Amazing smoothness, clarity and deep richness from something that you can hold in your hand and wrap your fingers around.

Roth MC4 Music Cocoon - a 13wpc stereo SS/tube hybrid i-Pod dock/amp. I listened to this driving both Focal.JMLabs Chorus 800's and Era Design 4's.

I wish I had a store like that in my area. Or do I? Hmmmmmmmmm

I would like to hear those AEGO-M's.

The AEGO-M is simply fascinating, yet I can't decide whether it's cheap or expensive. It's about $250cdn, only stereo with the option of a center channel and there's only RCA input. But the sound...I could hear the bass richness of a male singer's voice from this little thing you could darn near put in your pocket...and so smooth and natural, it's uncanny.

I may just get this as a surprise for my wife. She goes there with me and occasionally sees something she really likes. I know she wants this little system.

Auditioning bookshelf speakers at this shop was a breeze. Speaker after speaker were set up on the stands for back to back listening, ranging from the Role, Castle, Epos, Era 3,4 and 5 and Focals.
