A 8 ohm Receiver paired with 6 ohm Speakers

Hi Everyone,
I'm super new to this music stuff and just had a couple questions. I have a Sony STR de445 (Receiver), and a bit ago my sony speakers died. So I was looking around and saw raving reviews on the Pioneer sp-bs22 lr. Now in a lapse of judgement I impulse bought the Pioneers. When I was looking at the specs a second time I noticed that my reciever only supported 8 ohms or above. but the Pioneers were 6 ohms. I just want to assure that it is safe to even plug them in, let alone use them on a regular basis.

Thank you so much for your input.

Those speakers should be OK with that receiver. If you play music loud for long periods, and the electrical load is too much for that receiver, it will shut itself down. The impedance load of those speakers is not the friendliest for cheap amplifiers though:

its surprising that entry level speakers would have nearly four ohm dip in mid to upper bass. But as long as you don't blast high volume content for long periods, you should be OK. If the receiver keeps shutting down in the middle of playback of some kind of content, time to look at another pair of speakers or a more robust amplifier.
