Hi guys,
I need your opinion. Right now I am looking for a DVD player. I am thinkin among OPPO, 980H, 981HD, and TOSHIBA A2.

Price wise, A2 is better since Walmart is selling them for 98.87 tomorrow. I also read that HD wise, A2 is better graphically. But they are slow in loading, and in Standard Definition wise, 981 HD is better.

980H is cheaper than 981HD and can play as much standard def DVD, and the least best in HD wise.

Right now, if I can get the TOSHIBA tomorrow, I would just get it because it is cheaper. But, if I can't, then I will go for 980H because I'd rather wait for the 983 to come out than buying the 981.

If it is up to you guys, which DVD player would you guys pick? and why?

IF you can get an A2...That is the question... To me, even as an owner of a 980, going with the A2 is a no brainer for the price. For SD DVD, I doubt there will be a considerable difference between the A2 and the 980 or 981 (a friend said the 981 was slightly better than the A2), but the fact that you can play HD-DVD makes this one really easy in my book.

Yeah, that's true....but I have work at 8:30, on the bright side, Wal-Mart is on the way to work and work is only 7 mins from Wal-Mart. I guess I'll try to drag my brother to go with me to Wal-Mart and ask him to wait in line to pay for it

I'll sell you my Oppo, I just picked up a HD-A2, and I've got a PS3 on the way, so I really don't need a 3rd player that will upscale.

I was unable to get an A2 today. They sold out in about 10 minutes; there was a pretty long line, maybe 50 to 60 people. I was about 40 back, so I knew my chances were slim. I heard the people in front were there since 6:30 and they opened at 8:00

GlocksRock, it is the 971 right? I am currently looking for 980H. But how much are you selling it for?

I went in line today at Wal-Mart in Chino Hills, and was actually the 26th customer....they only had 25 of A2s....I stayed there until 8:20 before I had to leave for work. I am definitely frustrated hahahaha

I have both an A2 and an Oppo 980. If the A2 played SACD and DVD-A discs, I wouldn't even have the 980.

Yes, it's the original Oppo, the 971H with the Faroudja chip... I'm asking $100 + shipping. PM me for further discussion.

It will be $169, so $30 less than Best Buy has it for this weekend. The one I went to said they had plenty in stock.

Yeah, but you don't get 7 HD DVDs though. I think Best Buy is still more worth it.

It works out to about the same price, but you won't have to get up early and take chances on not getting one. With BB, you technically get 9 movies, Sears I believe you will only get 7. There are two movies IN THE BOX with the A3, plus 2 more free and the 5 by mail at BB.
