Hello all this is my first post but I've been doing a little homework and reading up on a couple of companies . I've decided not to go with lower end HTIB or the Pioneer made for the 360 . I've got 800 to spend which doesnt have to included a receiver but shipping & tax has to . I have these two systems in mind but want to know this there anything else out there ? My room is 12x9 . It will be mostly 55% games , 25% music , & 20% movies/tv . I listen to mostly rap but here and there I switch it up .

Just based on specs alone, which means you need to demo, I would lean towards the Infinity. Larger speakers with better radiating area 'usually' at this price level will equal better sound.

I would dump the PS10 sub w/o hesitation and get me a shiny BIC H100. A buddy of mine just picked one up and it clobbers my PSB Alpha Subsonic1 10" sub (as it should :D) But it also clobbered his JBL 12" sub.

Great sub for the money, and it will leave you with a bit more $$ in the pocket.

You can get them from Overstock dot com for under $300 delivered.

Personally in your price range I would check out av123's x-series for the speakers. If I were in your position I would try to buy a good set of floorstands for the fronts and get a sub from hsu or svs and wait on getting surround until you have a little more money. If waiting isn't your game I would just get 2 pairs of x-ls speakers and a x-cs for the center then buy the sub from av123 as well. With these speakers after shipping it might be getting a little closer to 900 but you probably won't find better speakers for the money.

You can audition their speakers for free and it is always a good choice to. I recently took them for a run and they sounded great.

I was thinking the same, but ended up with a $960 total. When looking at it percentage wise, a fairly large gap.

Good luck on whatever you decide to go with. I still say get the BIC h100 sub. Simply a great bang for the buck sub. I would wager better than the PS-10.

Thanks for the info but Im not really trying to spend more money . This will be my first system and spending 800 on audio is kind of pushing it . I wont be able to turn it up all the time . And I can always upgrade later .

If you really do not want to budge from that budget. How set are you on full 5.1? Personally I would rather have a great set of fronts and a good sub rather than having an ok 5.1 system?

While you do lose a little in movies and games the sound quality you make up for by getting a much nicer pair of speakers is worth it in my opinion. This also allows you to upgrade to a full 5.1/7.1 set up at your leisure.

This is my first real HT so anything from what I had is going to sound good. I dont think a 7.1 is a good idea for a room so small . I also see that you said the H100 is a good so how about the system below . I also app. the help .

Im about to go read up on the Pioneer816 and Onkyo 505 but If you have any opinions im open .
The Acoustech has some good reads on forums like audioholics and avsforum. You will need to research. Horns can come across as harsh though. The Acoustech system reminds me of a poor mans Klipsch.

The H100 sub is cherry picked from that setup based on peoples reviews and now my own experience with it.

I honestly don't know about the rest of the setup will sound. I have a pair of the BIC 62 CLR-S comming in to play around with. These are w/o the Ed Frias cross over mods, which I will get. I will let you know how I find this pair compared to my PSB Century 500i's.

Hi supramanx,

I think you are heading in the right direction. Personally, If I was you. I would get this setup. I think this would be the best bang for your buck.

Fronts: Acoustech HT-75 R\L Speakers- $279.00 A pair - These are really good speakers for the price. They have a high sensitivity rating which means even an entry level receiver will be able to push a lot of power through them. This gives you more headroom when getting a receiver.

Sub: SVS PB10-NSD -$429 - In my opinion this is the best sub you can buy for the money. This sub will totally dominate your 12 x 9 room as will the rest of the speakers in this setup.

This comes out to around $700.00. If you was to shop around a little more you would most likely come across a better deal. I would not worry about getting your center and rear speakers for awhile. If you bought this setup you would be more than happy with it for now. Especially since this is your first HT.

Later on, when your budget allows. You can timber match with the HT-65 center channel. You can find it for as low as $100.00 and then pick up a pair of HT-64 bookshelves for your rears for around $180.00 pair.

Between the Infinity & Aperion systems you list, I'd WAY go with the Infinity. Another to take a look at would be an Onkyo system - they have good "bang for the buck".

Stick to your guns with your budget & full 5.1 system. For budget, there's always something better & more expensive. For 5.1, if what you listed for your goal was kicking back to music, I might lean towards a nicer stereo pair; but you said 55% games - get 5.1, you can always upgrade bits & pieces as needed.
