I can get my hands on dealer's demo Paradigm Servo 15 v1 with a full factory warranty. I was wondering whether this was a good deal or should I pass and look for something else. I was thinking about treying to get an HGS-15 used? which would u guys do. thanks a lot.

I wouldn't hesitate. Even though there are some differences, the v.1 is a fine sub in its' own right (I have the v.2). New w/ a full warranty, for $800.00, why not? As an aside, who still has new v.1's around? They were discontinued over a year and a half ago.

I've noticeed it doesn't come with a crossover or phase adjustment. K, crossover not as big a deal. I can't see why it doesn't come with phase adjustment. Do I just not mess with phase or is there anything I can do. Thanks a lot.

You'll be able to set it to either 0 or 180 via your AV Receiver or Pre-pro.

I went and heard the V2 today. Nice sub, BIG!

I used the DTS Eagles: Hell Freezes Over disk so grade it, and it was decent. It lacked a little punch, although it might have been running softer then I would have it.

The whole system was comprised of Paradigm SignatureS2 fronts, Signature C3 center, and Signature ADP surrounds.

It sounded VERY nice. Huge sound stage, and a very pleasant, laid back sound. Though it should considering the fronts alone cost 2300 dollars.

So, if you can find this sub, or the V1, I say go for it. I like what I was hearing. One thing though, put your ear up to the driver and see if you hear a sound like blowing air. This servo 15v2 had this problem, and it resides in the amp (corysmith01 had it with his SPL800II).

I have had a pair of Paradigm Servo 15's for about four years. I think they are fantastic so at $800 for a new one with warranty I would jump on it. They were $1500 each at the time I bought mine. Mine came with an X-30 crossover, so I'm not quite sure how you can properly match it to your main speakers without an external crossover. Contact Paradigm and they can probably give you the price for the matching crossover. This past year I replaced the X-30 crossover with a Velodyne SMS-1 external crossover/digital equalizer (about $650 street price). I strongly recommend it if you can afford it, as it will dramatically improve the equalization of the bass and smooth the transition with your main speakers. The servo 15 v.1 will provide you with all the bass you need. I really don't need two subs volume wise but having two helps to smooth out the room response.
