Hello Audioholics!

Some time ago I bought an Auzentech X-Meridian 7.1 sound card pushing DTS over TosLink to a 12+ year old Pioneer VSX-D514 A/V to drive a pair of Klipsch Chorus II circa 1986 paired with a cheap Sony 10" sub. I plan on keeping 2.1 with no desire for 5.1 or more at this time. Fast forward to this weekend...

There are no drivers for my sound card available for Windows 10 and upgrading I am soundless. I do have an GeForce 550Ti with HDMI output but my A/V does not have an HDMI input so still no sound.

I started looking at the ASUS and Creative sound cards but then thought about the audio quality limitations of optical and coax. Other devices connected to the Pioneer include: Nintendo Wii. I am passing the video straight to my TV and only driving audio through the Pioneer. So, here I am...

I see I have few options:

1. I can purchase a new sound card and continue with optical to the Pioneer.
2. I can purchase a new sound card and a new A/V (I don't really need the video support at this point).
3. I can purchase a new A/V with HDMI and push audio through the GeForce -- no sound card.
4. I can purchase a multi-source IA with USB and push audio through a USB port -- no sound card.

Considering any viable solution. Looked at Marantz SR7009 and Yamaha A-S801.

My primary goal is solid high quality audio of which I'd like to pass the best audio from the PC to the amp/AV.

Thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?

I am desperate to get back to listening to my music and watching NetFlix / Hulu.

Thanks!!
Mike

Since you intend to stick with a 2.1 setup, I would just get a pro-audio interface. You don't need to spend a lot either. I would be looking at something like this one, I have one, and it is good for the price. Clean output and very linear. It is more than good enough for your application.
