I recently upgraded from a 5.1 set up to a 7.1 set up, I using the Yamaha RX-667 and the PS3 as my Blu-Ray Player. MY ps3 displays DTS-HD 7.1 and I have sound out of all speakers (Sounds good btw) However the back left and Back Right Icons on my Receiver are not lit up and when I go into the menu to try to adjust their setting they are grayed out even though I am getting sound. So AM I really getting DTS-HD 7.1 Audio if just the PS3 says I am.

Thanks for your help and Happy Holidays!

What you are getting is most likely dependent upon the settings you have selected on the receiver. But it also depends on how you have the PS3 connected to it. To get DTS-HD7.1, you need to be using the HDMI connection, not the optical. And then you have to set the receiver to play what is input into it, rather than some other processing mode.

Just a guess on my part, but I think you probably either are using the optical connection, or you have some processor setting wrong, or both.

Did you rerun YAPO after adding the 2 new rear surrounds?

Which model of PS3? They don't all bitstream audio so you may not get the useless little "speaker lights" to light up, but the sound achieved (if configured correctly) should still be the same in either case.
