7.1 question

good day fellas. Tell me, does it make sense having a 7.1 system in my 10' * 14' room? i have enough speakers so its not that i will have to purchase. I just wonder if it will make a difference in that size room.

Where in the room is the couch?
Where in the room is the TV?
Where will the speakers be placed?

The answers to these will determine whether it will be a good thing or not.

the main position is placed back against the short wall with the tv at the other end. i have towers beside the tv and dipole/bipole speakers on either side of the listening position(about 5' high). i also have a pair of bookshelf speakers that i would place where the dipoles now are and relocate the dipoles midway along the long walls. what do u think abe?

I have a 7.1 system currently, but 5.1 was perfectly fine. If you have speakers and placement makes sense, then why not I guess.

hey abe thanks for the pics. The first one is it except teh couch is almost on the back wall with the surrounds on either side.

Sure you don't need it, but since you have them, why not use them?
3 in front, 2 on sides facing your ears, and 2 in the rear facing the front?

You're anticipating 7.1?

Do you have any movies in 7.1?

Or are you using PL-IIx matrix 7.1?

yes i use matrix. My specs are denon 3806 rec, front:jbl stadiums and jbl center. surrounds:energy c-r3. the bookshelfs i will use now are the jbl N28II. Subs: svs pb-nsd10 and 20-39cs plus with matching samson amp.
I also have a pair of image t55 speakers. that i thought to replace the jbl's with.

I don't want to hear about 10.2 HT or any of the sort!
