OK currently my system consists of a denon AVR3800ci, 2 definitive tech 7004 towers, C/L/R 2300 center, and 4 BPX1.2 surrounds. I was looking at ungrading my system and i went to my place of work (bestbuy) to find out exactly how high we can order definitive tech speakers. I found that i can go to the 7002 towers, BPX surrounds (4 5 /14 in each), i'll have to keep my C/L/R 2300, then i was looking at adding a sub probably the supercude 2, but still considering the supercube 1. Any ways i'm looking at either upgrading with def tech to those current models. Which luckly enough i can upgrade my current set-up to that one for around 2500 with the BPX surrounds and if i want to step-up to the BPVX surround (4 6 1/2 in each) it'll come to around 3000. So i was wondering if anyone had a suggestion with around spending that much for just the speakers to a 7.1 on any other brands of speakers. I watch alot of movies much more then i listen to music but i do both pretty consistantly. Also, i like to play alot of video games too.

You seem happy with Def Tech and look to be just dipping a toe in the waters of speaker shopping, for movies first along with music and game use you are going to be hard pressed to do better. Those Def's are such a solid value any move you make wont likely be better, just different and maybe even less pleasing, I owned Def Tech for years and its a top notch movie speaker. I would hate to see you get buyers remorse so think twive before jumping all the way into the deep end:)

I bought some Def Tech 7002s in February upgrading from older Def Tech. The additoan lbrillaince and depth was amazing. While it won't be a dramatic in your case going from 7004 to 7002 it still should be an improvement. At the same time I also ugraded to CLR3000 which in itself is amazing.

I have found, maybe just me, as I upgaded my fronts and center, my surrounds became very insignificant. My surrounds are in Def Tech BP in the ceiling and i won't be able to upgrade very easy if at all.

I haven't upgraded my sub and that will probably happen next year; I am still running an older Def Tech ProSub100. However with the subs in the 7002s and the CLR3000 the bass sound is already very good. This time I will change sub to SVS or Hsu, more likely the SVS PB13-Ultra instead of Def Tech.

I wouldn't go for anything less than the SC1 if you want any kind of tactile response. For something more visceral, an AV123 MFW-15 or Epik Caliber are good options for the money. BTW, how large is your space? Unless it's rather large, the BPXs for surrounds would be adequate for most situations.
