6ave.com Unprecedented Price Matching

Since I bought my receiver from Sixth Avenue Electronics, I have been receiving emails about once a week that I usually just delete, but today they were advertising that they will match any price that Pricegrabber finds, and even provides a link on the product page to check it.

The crazy thing about this is that they are an authorized dealer for everything they sell, but they will price match unauthorized (usually grey market) e-tailers, which usually sell things without warranty or with some lame store warranty for much cheaper than an authorized dealer.

Supposedly, not all products qualify, but I clicked through a few and did not see any that did not. Seems pretty outstanding to me! Hopefully it is still going on when I am in the market for a new toy again :D.

Well apparently I was mistaken about the authorized dealer thing, as it says the seller must be an authorized dealer in the very fine print, which contradicts their statement that they don't care who the dealer is. I think it is still a cool feature, but it isn't quite the same.

Sorry for a partially false alarm, everyone!

One way to test them. Send them a link to an unauthorized dealer price and see if they will match it. When they point to the fine print, then you can tell them to stop their deceptive advertisement:D
Yes, that is a lot of work.

They probably don't consider an unauthorized dealer a dealer.
To quote a past president, "It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is."

I bought a number of things from 6th Ave, and I love them as far a big box store goes. I have spent a lot of money there over the past few years and I have been more then happy with all my purchases. The best part about them is that you can haggle on the price. If you dont have one near you can call their sales department and haggle over the phone
