I've connected my brand new t-v to my Mcintosh C-50 pre-amp optically and it ( of course ) does not work.
With the t-v sound output set to optical sound output only or internal speakers and optical output, neither
works. No sound through my big system. Anybody out there in the forums know which adjustments I have set
incorrectly? Thanks in advance!

Did you assign the input on the mac? Also why are you outputting from the tv?

Yes. I had to re-read the pre-amp manual, then figure out what the hell they were talking about. So, had to reset the " server " input to
" digi two ". works fine now.
I send audio to the system because of Netflix sound.

Worth buying a seperate streaming STB. Better processing with no lag, front end for whole house streaming form a PC or server, full audio formats (most all displays cant output full HD audio. Ditch that route, but for temp check your manual and make sure that output is assigned correctly

. For under 300 a streaming box like the nvidia sheild is great. Add another storage drive and you have dvr storage you can start cutting the cord.
