65" Hitachi hdtv and xbox 360

can"t get a good picture it is flickering and format is too large for the screen to read all information ,xbox rep think it is in the tv setting , but I can't find anything wrong there. but I do know that the console won't let me set it to 1080 i it stay in the 480 i mode. can any one help me ?:confused: :confused:

If the console isn't letting you change the setting, you probably need to set the physical output to HD. The A/V plug on the back of the system actually has a switch on it. If it's set to TV, then it's locked at 480i and the system won't let you change it. If you switch it to HDTV, it will unlock the other resolutions.

It should tell you this right on the screen in the system settings. When you go to the "Display" portion of the System blade, there should be a message saying "HD output is disabled because your A/V is set to 'TV'" or something to that effect, with a small picture of the cable indicating the location of the switch.

thank jedi, but that not happen bought a new cable and change both setting to 780i and still the same bad screen. no mention of hd locked out. exbox want to send me another cable

Check the switch where the a/v / component video cables connect to the back of the xbox. Make sure that it is on HD.

This i a dumb question but i have to ask.
You are using component cables and have a hard drive right?

Also, interlaced causes flickering. 720p is going to be pretty much flicker free.
