Should I set speaker impedence to 6 ohms on rx-v663 to match my PSB T45s?

Thank you,
Z

Actually ... that is NOT a good idea unless you find your AVR overheating!!

Setting it to the lower impedance simply limits the amount of power the AVR can produce. The Yamaha runs very cool to start with so just make sure it is well ventilated and leave it alone. 99% of the 663 owners find no problems with that approach.

i got a similar problem. I have a pioneer av receiver and i currently have it set to 6 ohms. And my speakers are all 6 ohm. Should i change it back to 8. I got no idea help i assumed the 6 ohms ah now i am confused. What temperature is considered 'cool' ? i measured like 40 degrees C at a moderate listening level lol :D

do these settings actually change the internal elecronics (by that i mean, a switch which changes i dont know the circuit path with a mosfet switch or something) or is it just the temperature cut off coefficient which gets altered in software on a micro?? any one know :)

lol thanks, i have made the change back. Looking forward to an improvement now. But on the Pioneer there is no actual switch. its done in software thats why i was asking but then again who know if its not a digital switch ie like the mosfet i speculated over

I know, that you know, but I don't know, if everyone else will believe, that you know, what I know, you know. You know?

No. leave your Yammy at the 8 ohm setting. The T45s although 6 ohm ratings have a fairly high sensitivity. Translated, it doesn't take much to make them sing loud.

Yes keep them at 8 ohms unless you find that you are having issues. The 6 ohm switch is designed primarily to protect the receiver but you should have enough current in most cases.
