6 channel analog input and Yamaha RX-V1400 problem

When selecting the Multi Ch Input (6 channel analog in) on the receiver, it sends a signal to turn off the external amp via the 12v trigger. When I select the Multi Channel input again to turn it off, it turns the external amp back on.

Have I missed something in the setup, or is this likely a defect in the receiver?

If I use the receiver without the external amp, the Multi Channel Inputer works with the internal amp as expected.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I just found a thread on another forum that indicated the same problem exists with the RX-V1600 and RX-V1700. So I expect this is an inherent design flaw.

Oh well, I guess I'll have move my lazy *** off the couch and manually turn the amp on when I want to listen to scad's!!!
