I've looked over many threads on these boards as well as reading other reviews and I can't make heads or tails of what the reviews mean, or imagine what the speakers actually sound like, so here goes:
I want advice/recommendations on a pair of bookshelfs/monitors + receiver for 6-700 dollars. ideally I'd like to stay around 600 but am willing to go up to 700 if there would be a large improvement in sound quality. I expect I'll eventually want to add a subwoofer, but I'm not sure if that could fit in my budget.
These speakers will be used mostly for music, and movie watching can suffer the result of that choice, it's not a priority to me. The receiver should be 5.1 (for spdif from my computer, and to take advantage of the LFE channel). I'm not sure what to look for in terms of amp power, and I don't need any fancy features.
