The prediction is for end of next year. I'm pulling the trigger in less than two months when my custom wall unit is built.

Predictions often don't pan out the way we would like but $1K for a 52" LCD would be wonderful it happens.

I wonder how long it will take for the price to become reasonable on the bigguns....... (80"+)

As of right now, that extra 15" exponentially more $$$ compared to a 65".

The price for the larger sets will remain high for some time as the issue is producing and handling glass that large - basically a physical limitation of both the glass and the equipment needed to make it. The gear used to make even a 32" screen is already quite large. (that's what we built at my last job...)

Unless my set dies I'm holding out and waiting for 60" LCDs to drop under $3k. That's roughly the current price point for 52". If it dies before then I'll just have to settle for a 70" rear projector.

The whole under $1k thing too, that will most likely mean from 2nd teir manufacturers, not 1st teir like Samsung, Sharp, etc...

Where on Gods earth are you shopping??

There are many larger TVs selling in in your stated price range.

My local Costco has a 1080p 67" Samsung DLP on display selling for $2,700.

That Sony is a LCD projection, not an actual LCD display, and the other is obviously DLP.

He said.....quote.........Unless my set dies I'm holding out and waiting for 60" LCDs to drop under $3k." without listing specifics.

With that said, I showed him a 60" LCD selling for $1,999. Personally, if I was him, I'd go for the 67" DLP instead, which is why I posted the link.

Why dont you please stop following/shadowing my posts to make a disagreement everywhere I post.......and please stop pestering me.

That's a ban-able offense ya know!!
