$500 Price Range Receiver Suggestions

I'm doing some research. I would like to know what A/V receiver people prefer using in the $400-$600 price range. There are way too many choices out there. I am going to guess that Yamaha and Denon are up there. I prefer something a minimum of 5.1 surround DD and DTS. 7.1 prefered. I don't think that THX is such a big deal. Also, no amps are going to be used for this system. The receiver will do everything. The system is going to be used for music, movies, and gaming.

If you have any dislikes (how ever small), can you also mention those?

Once I get a database of models I'll do some more research, starting with the most common and work my way down the list. :D

Thanks a lot.

Consider getting a Harman Kardon AVR 635 from ebay. The sell refurbished units straight from the factory there each day. over the last month they have sold from anywhere between $510 and $641 plus shipp. a $1200 receiver for around 500 bucks with a warrenty sound like a great deal to me :D

The yamaha RX-V1500 is a good option and would work well as a pre-pro with your amps. The Yamaha RX-V2500 and Denon 3805 are also good but probably a little above your price range unless you find a great deal.
