500 Greatest Albums project nearly complete!

Over the last year, I have been having a client and good friend of mine that works at a large used record store systematically make direct (uncompressed) copies of every album in "The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" book. It is very nearly complete with less than 20 cd's remaining!

Now, all that is left is to find a 500 disc changer, put them in proper order and use the book as an index!

I've got the same goal, but I'm going about it a lot more slowly: Buy the CD, listen to it, read up on the artist and album, listen some more, put in collection, repeat.

I think I've REALLY listened to about 50 so far. Only 450 more to go!

So much great stuff!

If you're serious about the disc changer, a word of warning: they can be fussy. I have two 300 disc Sonys and although one of them works flawlessly, the other one doesn't. There are about 5-8 CDs that will skip on the first track or 2 or, will start to skip somewhere in the middle. That's not bad, out of 300 CDs, but it's still a pain. Other people have similar issues, as I've learned. If I were you, I'd consider the HTPC route. If I had my time back, that's the way I'd have gone.

Just my 2 cents.:)

By the way, I take issue with Rolling Stone album critics, since they don't like RUSH. ;)

I agree wholeheartedly! I believe I may have to slip "Hemispheres" in there on my own!
