Hi I am brand new to this forum but will start with an issue I have with a 50" HPC plasma (made in China) I just purchased. It has great specs :
10000:1 contrast ratio
1920 * 1080 max res.
134.2 Mill max colour
So it looked good in the showroom also...The thing I am not happy with is the picture quality. Still very "boxy" pixels for such a good speced plasma. I paid @ $5K for it.
The way I have it setup :
- Foxtel. Foxtel Satellite comes into the Foxtel box (not the IQ one but Foxtel Digital). Then from there the lead goes to the VCR (ant In). Then from VCR (ant Out) to the Plasma. The Foxtel picture quality is just good. Needs to be better. The foxtel is tuned into a chanel on my VCR for recording purposes.
- DVD. Running the sound into my Amp via the optical lead. The picture is done via the Y/Pb/Pr. Again picture only just good. Should be supurb.
- HDTV. Running a DVI lead from the HDTV box (Centrex) to the DVI in the Plasma. This is quite good quality but not great; as it should be.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have heard to use SCART for the Foxtel. Even if someone outthere is local I will pay for a home visit to get it right !!!
...don't feel like I just purchased a $5K plasma; in fact I had just replaced a 40" TCL I had and that gave the same picture quality.....
