I must admit I like mine a lot, I don't know if it is the shape of the profile around the tweeter, but the sound is good to my ear.
However, after reading about the QC inconsistencies with the tweeter, there is a wildcard factor on these (perhaps it has been improved)
Dennis has stated that the latest ones have improved, and seem to
have more quality control.

I noticed that the woofer screws are marred, showing some silver where the black coating was missing and the edges of phillips slots were rounded over. Someone had already been in this speaker. The other speaker is pristine.
Those speakers are B-stock for different reasons and not just cosmetic flaws.
Someone may have over-driven that one speaker - or the voice coil is rubbing
some (not properly aligned).

So are you gonna return them and get something else?
I was thinking about it, but then saw no returns of clearance items. They have a replacement tweeter on the way, so I can do a proper stereo listen!

So...did you get it yet?
NHT is not really going out of their way to impress with customer service. They sent the tweeter by express mail, but because there was $1.86 postage owed on the package, the PO would not drop it off until I paid them which took an extra two days, so it probably took longer and I had to pay (of course I could have refused delivery, but that is a yet bigger hassle).

I have them set up and they sound pretty good (aside from light on bass). I don't have another pair of speakers in that room right now to compare it with.

If anyone is considering buying these, I will make a higher priority of it. Let me know!

To me, a free tweeter should be a free tweeter

I would like to toy/play with them - however, not at this time - since I am
going to toy with some cheapy MTX speakers (more suited for surrounds)

So, I will let you sell the NHT to afterlife2.:)

I'm interested to see what you think of the MTX.

I know that they make some decent car subs, never heard anything else MTX.

That sucks that they could not pay that chump change. Those MTX look like those Wavecrest speakers a bit.

I will get back on them - it has been a while since I listened to the
(Mitek) MTX label. They tend to do better with their DCM label.

Their former bookshelf speaker, did sound better than their car speakers.

They will fall short of Wave Crest and my EOS bookshelf speakers.

If they are telling the truth, the cabinet should be around 5/8 inch.
If you buy online from MTX (Mitek), they will cost $119 a pair.o_O

They will only have a high pass filter on the tweeter. However the
ones I did own in the past, did have a decent midrange.

They tend to be weak on the marketing side of things.

Well since you are interested in what I think - and I tend not to be too rough
and critical with speakers.:) Here is my take on them.

They are overall poor sounding and poor quality - the woofer and tweeter
do not play well together.

They are bright, loud, harsh, sharp, edgy, coarse, grainy, and scratchy sounding.
Plus, artificial sounding with voices and instruments and the box rings. Even Bose
is better than these MTX speakers.

I did give them more than 15 minutes to show some potential. They are packed
up and ready to go back, once I get an RMA number.:(
