Hi, I recently saw on sale an SACD of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, mixed in 5.1 surround sound. The reviews of the album sounded like it sounded amazing and made me consider, for the first time, buying an SACD player and a 5.1 Surround Sound System.
My current set up is as follows..
Pioneer Hi-Fi system with a PL-Z93 turntable, CD player, radio and tape deck. The Hi-Fi has a audio input selector with phono, tuner, tape, video and CD input. The ones I use the most are the video and phono inputs.
My computer is in the same room. I have a Creative X-FI HD Sound Blaster USB external soundcard. It has line outputs at the back. I have connected these via an RCA to RCA cable to the video inputs of the Pioneer Hi-Fi system. This then outputs sound to two very old JVC S-40 bookshelf speakers. I also use my Shure SRH840 headphones to listen to music.
I'm not sure how much relevance, if any the above information has.
But basically, I would like to enjoy 5.1 surround sound on SACD's and maybe even computer games like Battlefield 3..in addition to movies etc. As far as I am aware, the USB external soundcard is not 5.1 compatible. However I do have an Asus Xonar 5.1 pci soundcard lying around somewhere that I could use instead.
Sorry for the long thread, but any help would be much appreciated.
If someone could point me in the right direction and tell me how much a system like this would cost. That way I can give you guys a budget.
