Here's the start for my 5.1 setup!

I was gonna go with the Polk R30's as fronts for starters but decided against it since the sale price at outpost would still be a bummer for me.. (shipping + taxes) SOoooo

Also, this is just gonna be the start of the setup, Ill be finishing it later when I have the cash.

Bic DV62si pair as fronts, DV62CLR as mid. -first purchase. 226 shipped.
Use old Sharp 2way 4inch woofer/ tweeter for surrounds.
Dayton 12in subwoofer. -second purchase. 150 bucks.
Purchase another pair of DV62si to replace the old surrounds. -third purchase. 110 bucks shipped.

= 486 total.

Second system

Buy some Fluance 5.1 package right away.

Fronts are 3-way floorstanders. Mid is dual 4in midrange with tweeter.
surrounds are 4inch 2-way. -first purchase around 200 bucks shipped.

Dayton 12in. subwoofer -150 bucks

= 350 bucks total.

What do ya think?

any other recommendations is good too, but remember, on my first purchase, it must be under 220 bucks! thanks!

and my music I will be bumping some rock/alternative/Hip-hop.. and such! that's why the Bics are in there... going subless for a few months and I hear they deliver! MOVIES also, not as much as music but I do want something decent!

also, I am not a critical listener, but I want a BIG improvement over my logtech z-5500's. They are good for gaming... and will only for gaming now after I get these speakers..... I am running some sharp bookshelves currently on my onkyo receiver.

Considering your listening criteria, I would go with a pair of the DV62si, and the dayton sub at the same time (consider the Dayton 10" for a little less money). The BIC's have great bass for a bookshelf, but will not even compare to the output of a sub. I realize that will put you $50 or so over your budget, but for some reason I don't think you will be content with any bookshelves bass capabilities if you want to "be bumping". For your second purchase, get the DV62CLRS center. If you're happy with the BIC's, then for your third phase I would get 2 more DV62CLRS to replace your DV62's as mains, and move the bookshelves to surround duty.
