5.1 Home Theater Setup

Hi, I need some expert advice on setting up a 5.1 home theatre.

I am considering the Denon 1913 receiver but read some reviews that the 2113CI would be the wiser choice given only the $70 variance in price. The main differences I can find is 4K upscaling (I don’t care about), 3D pass through (may care about that one day) and an additional 5 watts per channel. Anything else of major importance? Is there a major difference in internal component quality?

The main use will be for watching movies, playing video games and listening to music. The vast majority of my music is house, trance or dance which is all hard bass, there will be the occasional timeless stuff like Sinatra or Buble when company comes over, but that’s it. As a result, I am considering the Klipsch Synergy F-30s for front and possibly another 2 for rear or perhaps the F-20s for rear. I’m leaning more towards the 12” sub, but may settle on the 10 since the F-30s already put out lots of bass. I also plan on bi-amping (correct terminology?) the fronts as well.

Any foreseeable complications with a setup like this? Recommendations?

The performance and power wise, they are going to be indistinguishable, especially when paired with the high sensitivity Klipsch F30. The only thing in favor of the 2113 is that it has the MultiEQ XT version of Audyssey, where as, the 1913 has MultiEQ.

Fyi, Accessories4Less has the 2113 (refurb) for $450 shipped.

Even though the Klipsch can play low, still cross them over at about 70-80Hz. This will relieve the receiver off having to push power for the lower octaves and it will result in cleaner power above the crossover frequency.

Last but not the least, the sub is not something to skimp on. In an average living room, a ported 12" sub is the minimum. (Klipsch subs are not great. Look at Hsu Research, SV Sound, Cadence Audio and Power Sound Audio for better bang for buck subs.)
