I frequently use this file I created to test levels post Audyssey Calibration etc. because the AVR's internal tones bypass all dsp processing. In addition, non THX/Audyssey AVR's might not be at the correct level on the internal tones. This is -30dBfs RMS with a crest factor of 6dB, which is -10dB from Dolby/THX pro calibration levels, since I highly doubt anybody here wants to listen to pink noise at 85dB. Reference level should read at 75dBc at the MLP.
Working on more configurations such as 7.1.2/4 and 9.1.2/4
In order to get the sounds to come from the appropriate channels, you'll need to use neural x, which this file exploits. NX boosts the heights by 3dB, which this file accounts for, and all AVR's boost the LFE channel 10dB because it's recorded at -10dB, which is also accounted for. I STRONGLY recommend using foobar with the WASAPI plugin because windows may not output the proper dBfs levels. The other option is a bdp/stream box. That will probably require a video file however since, for whatever reason, many bdp's don't like multichannel PCM or FLAC without it being embedded into a video.
Let me know if you have any issues.
