4K for non 4K content?

I'm in the market for a new TV. Exploring one of either sony 55W800C or a Samsung 4K tv (still awaiting info on models. Might get a decent employee discount at Samsung).

Given most of the target content (if not all), will be 1080p or 480p. Should I stick with a 1080p panel or go for 4K?

4K content is definitely at least 5 years away back here.

based on my opinion, it is stupid to actually buy 4k tv, why? you imagine that we have dvd resolution 480p and you are trying to display it at 4k? versus 480p displaying at 1080p, try youtube 480p resolution with your pc connected to the 4k vs 1080p, next you try 1080p on 1080p and 1080p on 4k, the line is there, it is no illusion, even for 480p you almost want to throw your tv, 4k?
