It definitely should win some awards. Easily Best Actress.
It is nominated for 8. It would be almost funny if Sinners is nominated for 16 and wins none. Sinners was fun, but I was not watching it thinking Oscars.

I think Sinners will win a couple. I agree with you. I didn't go into Sinners thinking "oh, this is definitely going sweep the Oscars!" I thought it was a fun movie. Good summer flick. These 16 nominations though, is absolute BS. That many nominations put them in Titanic, Lord of the Rings territory, which is just stupid. That's why the Oscars is not credible. Lost all its credibility about 15-16 years ago. :)

Like Anora winning all those awards. I watched Anora after it won and was being told by friends it was so "amazing" "absolutely worthy of Oscar wins!" What??? It absolutely was not. The movie got so boring in the 3rd act. The movie was basically a documentary of a rich NY/NJ dumbass hooking up with a stripper. That's Oscar worthy??? What a joke.

Anora was OK, but felt very average. NOT an Oscar contender in my book. Felt like a rehashed story that's been heard many times, and there wasn't anything cinematically that made it stand out. Sinners at least is a good popcorn flick and I am sure it will win a few too. I was surprised at One Battle After Another winning Best Pic GG also.

My 23 YR old daughter (finishing Pharmacy School next month) gets mad at me for saying this (because she somehow loves “Sinners”), but I thought “Sinners” was so dumb on so many levels - even though vampires is my favorite genre. :D

To be nominated for 16 categories is a travesty to me. It seems absolutely absurd and risible to me. Some of the best movies of all times like “Shawshank Redemption” and “Godfather I & Godfather II” never even got nominated for that many categories. Absolutely ridiculous.

Now I might not agree, but I would at least understand if people just liked “Sinners” because they thought it was fun and entertaining and enjoyable. But Best Picture, Director? Best Original Screenplay ? Ridiculous.

Oh don’t get me started on “Anora”. What a load of BS. When we were watching that movie, I had to FAST FORWARD so many scenes because they were so POINTLESS and boring beyond belief. :D

If you’re looking for something way more entertaining than the Oscar hype, you might want to check out a fun slot game like https://7bitcasino.com/games/bsg/golden-horns it’s a great way to unwind after reading all these overhyped reviews.
Totally kills Oscars cred. And Anora? Boring af by the end, just rich idiot + stripper drama. What a joke, no way Oscar worthy

Well, I didn't watch any of the Oscars last night. The only win I cared about was Best Actress and that went to the rightful winner in Jessie Buckley. Have nothing against Michael B. Jordan but never considered that role in Sinners to be true "Oscar Worthy". Figured it would go to Leo or Chalamet. Heck maybe even Ethan Hawk could've won it. I heard his performance in Blue Moon was his best ever. I wish Train Dreams would've received more recognition. That movie was very good. I love PTA, but he should've won for There will be blood. Maybe this Oscar win was making up for his previous movies. One Battle after another was good, but definitely not one of his best. I would put it middle of the road for PTA. I'm glad Amy Madigan won for Weapons. She did a great job in that movie.

I don't remember there ever being an award for "Best Casting". I feel that one is always going to go to the movie that is loaded with multiple talent vs maybe just one single mega talent. Not sure I really like that category.

All in all, just from looking at the winners list, looks like it was a Sinners vs One Battle After Another kind of night. Meh, glad I didn't waste my time watching any of it. :D

I liked One Battle After Another well enough, but I don't feel best director or best picture were deserved. Hamnet and Train Dreams were both better films. I agree, There Will Be Blood should have won that year. Have not watched Blue Moon or Marty Supreme. I am OK with Michael B Jordan winning, but it wasn't like a Hamnet performance.

Casting is a new award, this was the first year.

Very glad that Jessie Buckley won too. That was my favorite film this season so far.

I think it was a typical Oscars night. They got a very few things right (Hamnet Best Actress) and the rest BS. :D

Sinners winning Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay was a total joke, but typical of Oscars. But I guess it didn’t have much competition for Original Screenplay.

At least Sinners didn’t win Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Editing. :D

Watched both Mercy with Chris Pratt and Crime 101 with Chris Hemsworth on Amazon Prime. I went in with ZERO expectations. Both were decent popcorn flicks. Nothing amazing. They were great for streaming. I would not have paid money to see these in theaters. I think they're worth a view. :)

I saw “The Bride 2026” 4K and “Wuthering Heights 2026” 4K.

I think “Wuthering” is just stupid on its own - never read the novel or saw any other movie versions. I did read the long-a$$ novel plot. I think the novel plot is stupid too. :D I don’t see how any version of this novel can possibly be good. :D

I think “The Bride” is just okay, mediocre. I don’t like how Gyllenhaal (writer/director) tried to make it funny. I don’t like the plot holes.

We were interested in The Bride, but saw that the reviews were pretty average to bad. Waiting for streaming. It is Jesse Buckley though! :D

Wuthering Heights had no buzz, so we skipped it. Reviews are pretty low.

Buckley is obviously an excellent actor, winning Best Actress for Hamnet. Bale is also an excellent actor. So the problem isn’t acting. It’s the writing and plot. :D

Started watching Ready or Not 2. Pretty fun so far. The first one was unexpectedly good. "Good" isn't the right word; more like dumb fun popcorn flick. Second one is stacking up similarly so far, but not quite as good yet.

**Edit - ready or not, not hide and seek lol. You knew what I meant.

I tried watching the 1st movie a few years ago. But yeah, I agree with the "dumb" part. :D

I might agree to the "fun" part if I were more into comedies of any kind. :D

I like Sam Raimi, so either gore-horror or gore-comedy, so these are OK to me. They are certainly not movies I'd see in the theater.

I'm kind of looking forward to watching that Send Help movie. It does help that Rachel McAdams is in the movie as well. :D

I am waiting for the Hunger Games, with Jennifer Lawrence, to stream on Prime. I hope it will be 4K, Dolby Vison. The Titanic is 4K with Dolby Vision, streaming, and may watch this weekend. I have several movie streaming apps.
