That is really odd and too bad, which means the disc has a bad mix then. In the theater, it was one of the craziest Atmos movies I've seen, at least the couple of instances when they are in the tornados.

I liked it as a cheese action flick, but yeah, it lacks the personal side of the original.
Yeah, I found it strange as well. I don't think I'm having speaker issues. I should check my settings and do a test. But I was just underwhelmed at that atmos for Twisters. I feel like the new 4k remaster of the original Twister, sounded a lot better than this Twisters mix. :)

Twisters 4k Disc

PQ
- The picture quality was good. They shot the film on 35mm and then gave it the 4k treatment. They shot it with using natural light and nothing added in post production. So, colors aren't popping off the screen. It was shot in Oklahoma. So, if you have ever been or for some that live there, you know what Oklahoma looks like. haha! :DOverall, not demo worthy, but still a very solid transfer.

SQ- I wasn't cranking the volume on this one, but it's pretty solid soundtrack. A little disappointed with atmos. I thought they would pack this movie with tons of Atmos sounds, but there really wasn't much of anything. Just the wind blowing, but with so much going on in the scene, all the sound felt like it was just coming from the front 3 speakers. There were a few bass heavy scenes. Which should be expected for a movie like this. Even with my volume lowered, the house was still shaking a bit, so I can only imagine for those that really crank up the volume and bass levels, this movie might move earth and your house!

Overall- I'm giving the movie a 7/10. The original is still king. This follow up was just ok. I didn't really like the main character (Kate). Was kind of mixture of bad writing and acting. I felt nothing for her or her issues. Could pretty much care less. I enjoyed Glen Powell's (Tyler) character. Sure, we all know why he was brought it, but really, every time he and his team were on screen, it made the movie better. The writers definitely stole similar events and scenes from Twister and used them in this movie. They had to give Kate her big "I'm a strong female lead" moment and I thought it was just pathetically forced. That's what made the original so great. The chemistry between everybody felt natural and they worked off each other. In this movie, there is ZERO chemistry between anybody. I'm not trying to bash the movie, I still think you should check it out, but these are just my nitpicks. Sometimes I can just turn the brain off and watch movies for what they are, but for some reason things in this one bothered me a bit. Maybe because I'm a big fan of the original and had really high expectations for this follow-up. Oh well.... :)
I was disappointed with the SQ also. This is the type of movies that ATMOS was created for, yet they didn't do much. I can imagine what the sound would be like inside a TORNADO! Sound going all around you and going upward. But no. Didn't get that.

I heard a lot more surround effects from "Snow White and the Huntsman" when the evil queen turned into ravens, flew around the room and then upward. I could hear the ravens flying all around me over and over again and then flying up the ceiling.

So Twisters 2024 was a huge disappointment in terms of ATMOS.

The new champion of losers must be "Megalopolis 2024".

Suppose to cost about $250 million total. Worldwide box office was less than $14 million!

Even M-Night's movies made more than $14 million each, and 99% of his movies are pure crap to me. :D

How could Francis Ford Coppola (director/screen-writer for The Godfather trilogy) have written and directed such a fiasco? This definitely means that he is too old and his work now sucks.

On the positive side, it was shot using 6.5K resolution Arri Alexa-65 digital cameras, so the PQ looks great. But that's the only positive. :D

I think I fell asleep a dozen times watching this snore-fest. What a total waste.

Lol, you wrote pretty much what I wrote about it. It was $120m out of pocket for Coppola himself, so a pretty good size ouch and the studio is no doubt not liking that. It has been nicknamed MegaFLOPolis :D Joker 2 might eek it out for a bigger loss though.

Yeah I am just really shocked at how terrible both of these movies are.

Once Megalopolis hits streaming, I will check it out. It is definitely an art house movie. That is 3 hours long..... haha. Other people's comments regarding the movie is "it needs to be watched a couple of times". Unfortunately, my guess is that the grand majority of people that watched it, won't be watching it again. :D

Did any of ya'll watch The Penguin on HBO? I thought it was really good. Short, only 8 episodes. But it's supposed to lead directly into The Batman 2. So now we just have to wait until 2026 until the Batman 2 comes out!.....haha!

I liked the Penguin a lot, except for the last few minutes of the season finale (on the bench by the river). Are they trying to prove that the Penguin is 100% cold blooded killer?

I like the Bat Signal at the end of Episode 8.

Will this lead to The Batman Part 2? :D

I was fine with how it ended. I knew something would happen to that kid. He was too soft and Penguin knew that. Not that Penguin didn't enjoy the loyalty, but now that he's in full control, he needs guys that will do anything and everything at the drop of a dime.

From what I read, this all leads into The Batman 2.

I think we need a thread specifically talking about contents that were shot using 4K - 8K Digital Cameras. :D

Even if you don't believe 4K - 8K TV/PJ have better PQ, I think most people believe it's important to have the original master copy in the best quality possible.

Now if the contents were shot using 4K-8K digital cameras and have Dolby Atmos or DTSX sound (either in theaters or on BD), that's even better. :D

So first on my list is the new movie called "The Hunt 2020", which was shot using the Sony Venice 6K Digital Camera.

Currently there is only a 2K/DTS-HD MA BD. But hopefully a 4K/Atmos or DTSX BD will be made also.

As expected, the PQ of this movie is among the best of them. Why aren't all movies shot using 8K, 6K, or at least 4K Digital Cameras? :D

The SQ is also very good, but it's only "DTS-HD MA" for now. :D

The premise of this movie is kind of simple - some strangers wake up somewhere in the world and they are being hunted/killed off.

It does have some politics in it - rich vs poor, educated vs uneducated, whites vs minorities.

I think this movie is very unpredictable. I liked it a lot. I loved the way it ended. And I definitely want to see it again in 4K with hopefully Atmos or DTSX. :D

Oh, and it definitely never hurts when your Protagonist looks like this (Betty Gilpin). :D

If you want to see her kick some serious a$$, watch this movie. :D
Apple Vision Pro in 4k and 8k are just so realistic. It even upconverts normal photos to 3D.
The eyetracking instead of a mouse cursor is a game changer.
I've started shooting videos on my iPhone 15 Pro max in 3D so I can relive those moments more realistic than ever.

Watched Wicked in Dolby Cinema this weekend. Painful :D That was the longest 2:40 film I've seen. Visually impressive, sound was good, but the film itself is not exactly my cup of tea. The little lady enjoyed it. The guy next to me was snoring lol.

Well, you took one for the team here. No way in hells I would want to see something like that. :D

The Terminator 4k Disc

PQ-
Wow, they did an excellent job with this 4k scan. Compared to recent releases of other Cameron movies, they actually left a little film grain in to give it the "film" look, but the new 4k picture is incredible. Close-up shots reveal so much detail in the faces. Colors look very good! The new Dolby Vision color grading makes the 80's colors pop. You can toss the blu ray or DVD copy, and keep this new one for life! :D

SQ- You get two choices, the original dual-mono track and new Dolby Atmos track. I listened to the new Atmos mix. Was actually blown away at how well it was done. The action scenes had sounds coming from all over and bass was mixed in nicely. The dialogue was easy to understand. Just an all around great sound mix for this classic 80's movie.

Overall- No matter what the situation is, if you already own a copy or don't own a copy, just go get this new 4k edition! You will not be disappointed. I was blown away at how great the picture looked and how great the sound mix was. It was like watching for the very first time. Seeing this movie all cleaned up and sounding 10x better than the previous edition was a treat to both the eyes and the ears. I've never seen the blu ray edition, so I can't make comparisons with that. The last time I saw this movie was probably on TV back in the early 2000's.

We saw Gladiator 2 last night. Story has one big glaring issue as it relates to the first film, otherwise it was very good. Good pace, good acting, an a LOT of spectacle and gore. Denzel is pretty much his Alonzo character from Training Day lol, but it still works here.

T2 Also had some film grain left in as well and it looked great overall. I did not pick up the first one yet.

I watched The Substance. This movie starts out really well, great cinematography channeling a bit of Darren Aronofsky, and is fun. It is great right up until the final act, where it disappointingly completely falls apart. The gore/body horror is some of the most extreme I've seen since Reanimator. If you like horror films with some T&A, it is worth a look.

Watched Romulus last night. Was cooking for the first 1/4, but ran through the whole thing while eating. I intended to skim, but remembered how much I liked the film and watched it all.

I was interested in a few scenes at first to hear the sound, because it was great in the theater. These were the quiet scenes with a lot of directional activity, and they still sound good at home. The Atmos is still pretty good at home, though as with many discs at home these days, most of it is ambiance compared to how it sounded in the theater.

Like the original film, many scenes are very dark, but the image looks very solid overall.

Agreed that Romulus is a pretty good black level/contrast test for your screen. Lots of dark scenes, often with a fairly bright point light (or many) in play. I watched on my OLED upstairs, so no full atmos effects to comment on from me. Sound was good overall on the base level I thought.

As for the movie... I would say it falls as one of the better Alien entries. Gets a little too "shades of Resurrection" for me at the end, but it was reasonably good up until that point.

Watched Terminator yesterday. WOW it looks good. I read the review and it said they used some AI to do the cleanup and that it caused some issues with moving backgrounds, but that the important aspects, faces and textures prominent on screen looked vastly improved. You really notice it, it looks great.

I think the bigger improvement was in the audio though. It sounds amazing now. I have not sat and watched the whole thing in quite a few years, so it was a fun nostalgic watch.
