And I thought SENSURROUND was a gimmick. :p

One of the videos in the link looks like a theme park ride. I think the Titanic 3d video spoof beat this one.

There are some drawbacks that I can see. What if the public demands THE ABYSS (1989) what are they going to do submerge the auditorium? :D

I don't know what the health and safety is for blowing liquid bubbles around an auditorium that are going to float to the floor that would become slippery unless they sussed that out, otherwise if walking down steps you'd take a nasty slip. I don't think anyone would want water squirted in their face. If I wanted that I'd Seaworld and watch flipper do a few loop the loops for a few fish.

The mechanical hydraulics gimbal I know what those feel like been to a few theme park rides in the past.

Wind blowing via fans that will raise the noise level of the noise floor up many db and I can only dread the sound system playing louder and been painful on the ear, as no way of masking noisy fans blowing out so much air without a trained ear noticing it.

Bass shakers in seats all well to enhance without many db's of lows pressing down on the ear drum. I get enough of that on the bus ride down town on poorly turned engines where its enough to vibrate with blurry vision, that depends if your back is against a seat and the lows so intense it vibrates the head cavity.

Other drawbacks I see is not all this can match what is on-screen and should only match if its a POV of performer. If I punched someone no one else can feel it expect my fist against the persons face or stomach. Now if the observer next to me placed their hand on my left shoulder while I throw a punch with my right to the next person, they would feel some vibration though the bones. Makes my skin crawl it does. But that is real life.

Oh and bullets well bullets would be, I imagine very painful more so than a toothache. So what's the cinema going to show next The Marathon Man, and strap in all patrons for "is it safe" experience. :D
