4-Zone Whole House setup w/out AV requirement

Hi,
I would like a reciever that can allow for four zones of speakers. I don't own a TV and I don't need to be playing multiple (different) sources at once. What is required is the ability to turn on / off and control the volume of each zone independently. I would also like to have the reciever be App controlled (iphone and Android) and have the reciever accesss my digital music via DNLA (synology NAS). I don't own a CD player or any other equipement so I don't need a lot of inputs. Basically, I'm looking for a way to control 8 speakers and have them all play the same music at different levels while controlling everything through an App. The reciever/amp will be located in a closet about 2 feet from my NAS and router. Any suggestions? Can I just use an AV receiver and setup the speakers in different rooms or do I have to go all out and get something like the Yamaha RX-A2030 / RX-A2040?

Joda,
What you are looking for does not exist in any AVR I am aware of, among the unsupported features are independtly controlled volume for each pair of speakers.
- Also, many multi-zone AVRs do not support digital inputs to some or all of the "extra" zones and four zones is a very high number in the AVR business.

You would be better served looking into Sonos, or another similar distributed audio system instead to do what you describe.

XEagleDriver - thanks for the feedback. That's a shame, I'm sure that there is a market for a simple (wired) A/V system that can deliver multi-room control via an app as opposed to a/b switches and in-room attenuators. I was really hoping to stay away from a Sonos (or Sonos type) of solution.

Regards,
Joe
