4 wire Bose cable.

I want to use stereo extension wiring to get my speaker further from the TV. I have an older Bose Home Theater 123.
Shocked to see, when I cut the cable that there were four wires, red, black, blue & green. My stereo extension wiring
just has black and red. I guess I will have to call Bose and see if they have any of their specific 4 wired wire ???????

You should just get a length of 4-conductor wire and splice it in. Calls to Bose Tech Support no longer go to a person at headquarters in Massachusetts as they once did when my son was answering phones (along with about 349 of his former co-workers.) Now the phone rings in the Philippines.

Get some wire of same or larger gauge (size, smaller number is thicker wire),and splice. Many ways to do it, I prefer stripping the insulation back, slip a length of heat shrink tubing on, twist ends together, drop some good solder on and seal with the heat shrink tubing.

One other thing to make sure is that the splice wire, regardless of color, splices the same colors in the Bose wires.
As it is just an extension, it is simple.

Thank you Ken - (irony - one of my brother's names!) - I will look for 4-conductor wire. I had hoped Bose would have this as an accessory to purchase. ??? I was hoping I would get someone in Massachusetts too & sorry your son lost his job, as have so many to those outsourced. I had hoped to just twist the wires together and use wire nuts - as I did with the two ends today. I'll look into heat-shrink tubing! I am such a notice! Solder is out of the question! LOL!! Wire nuts and a little electrical tape are just fine, too. Bose speaker accessories offered here. As suggested, I'd just simply extend the wires if that's all you need, especially as you already have some....

Humor me, because I am a "dumb blond." Can you give me a web site on how to shrink tube the wiring, so it will be less bulky? Also - FYI - I ordered 40 foot of wiring from Bose, and got a survey later and did make the comment that their help desk should be located in the USA. Have a Happy New Year.

Butt connectors can also make a more svelte connection than the wire nuts....youtube is your friend for tutorials on splicing or using heatshrink tubing, etc....

Bless you! I will look it up. I thought I was pretty clever with small wire nuts, but it sure would be neater to have something smoother!!
