Hey I have the Samsung hl56a650c, with a VIP722k satellite box, and currently have Dish Network. This is a slightly detailed question and yes I have been doing some research on this as well. My understanding is that all cable/satellite providers will be going onboard with ESPN 3D and Discovery 3D later this month (Direct TV June 11th). Now also in reading it looks like the legacy Mitsubishi and Samsung tv's need things displayed in the checkerboard format for 3d to work. Now from my understanding in order to view tv in 3d on the legacy models you also had to have a computer connected to the tv while running some transcoding software to convert all signals to 3d. Meanwhile with the legacy Mitsubishi's they are slated to offer a 3d converter box for their legacy tv line to view 3d tv and this device will be compatible with the newer Samsungs as well. My question is using my current hardware, once ESPN 3D is showing on Dish Network will I be able to use the wireless 3d glasses and my VIP722k, without running a computer with the conversion software on it, and utilize the 3d functionality natively?

Man, that's an incredibly specific question.

My guess is you're going to need someone else with the exact same gear and concerns who can help you.

I'd love to be of assistance, but I have absolutely no clue about your situation.
