It seems that many of us that have bi-amped the 3805 according to the instructions posted here have run into a few problems (the least of which might be figuring out the directions in the first place!
).
After finding that I had bleedover from the front L and R channels, I, like many others, reversed the RCA connections and got the reversal issue fixed. However, that seems to have induced some sort of internal "hum" that can be heard at about 8" from the front speakers. While I don't notice it while listening to music or watching movies, it still concerns me. I've tried to track down the notorious "ground loop hum" but it is an evasive opponent. I've switched out Surge Protectors, removed equipment from my setup, unplugged everything but the 3805, disconnected my cable, tried different outlets/circuits, etc with no success.
Another thing that concerns me is that it seems that the reversal of the Zone 2 channels reveals itself while actually using Zone 2. I read a post at AVS where a guy noticed that the TV audio in his kitchen was reversed. Has anyone hooked up their 3805 in a 7.1 setup and noticed that the Back Surrounds are reversed? I'm simply running a 5.1 setup, and haven't explored 7.1 enough to know if there are even discrete L and R signals. Can you tell when you run the Auto-EQ if they are reversed?
While I love how my setup sounds, and while the bi-amping has really made my speakers sing, I'm a bit concerned about these oddities. I'd hate to go back to a measly "120" wpc after experiencing "120" wpc into the highs and lows FOR FREE!
I'm curious what others have experienced.
