I have a denon 3805 & the remote has cracked at both sides. It is only 2 months old & has been well cared for. has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't. Contact Denon customer service and I'm sure they will send you a new remote. There have been MANY issues with the 3805 remote and they won't hesitate to replace it.

Nope!

Four months of use and my remote is physically fine. It even survived my son spilling chocolate soy milk on it a month ago.

I have, however, had to change batteries three times -- three! -- in four months because the remote goes dim and fails to work after a few weeks of normal use. A fresh set of batteries perks it right up.

New buyers: factor the price of frequent battery changes into your price vs. benefit trade-off decision.

Just plan on using a good universal remote and store the Denon remote until you sell the receiver. :D

cracked

Your post made me take a close look at my remote for the 3805 and behold, there was a small crack on the side.....cheap chinese plastic, I'm sure.
Yes, they do eat batteries for lunch, couple pair of rechargables took care of that. I thought this remote was pretty cheesy at first, but I find myself using more than I thought I would, but now the crack will drive me nuts.

I haven't had any problems with mine, but I don't use it much - it stays in a drawer. Frankly, one of the best purchases I've made was a Home Theater Masters MX-700 Universal Remote. Programmable through a serial port on your computer, it can control all of the functions on the 3805, including sequences of steps through macros. It's easy to use, my wife loves it, and it's relatively inexpensive; I got mine off of eBay.

I don't have a 3805, but along the same topics -- I'm considering the Harmony H659 -- programmable through your USB port. Very Tivo'esque remote (which is a good thing). Have a friend who highly reccomends it, about to give it a try within the next few weeks, since the price is right (sub $100 on eBay shipped).
