360 upconverting to 720P?!

Hey just a heads up to 360 owners. I just downloaded the new patch and I think dvds are upconverted now. I have my 360 hooked up via vga cables playing at 720p during gaming. but when I watched dvds the aspect ratio was always off and the resolution automatically changed to 640 x 480. Well I popped in raiders of the lost ark, having just watched it last night, and bam my projector says it is playing at 720P. The widescreen looks right and the detail is better.
Any one else tested this yet?

It should have been automatic. Its Microsofts first of required seasonal updates. Try and see if you can fast forward through your saved videos or have multiple downloads at once, the patch is quick you might not have realized you downloaded it.

it doesn't upconvert, you must be mistaken, I got the patch but it's not upconverting.

Yes I was mistaken. It turns out that the patch allowed native resolution playback of dvds through the VGA input not upconversion. I have pictures I will try to post later of before and after but I assure you before the patch my dvds looked horrible and now the projector menu has switched from 480i to 720P and the dvds are looking good, I'm not jumping up and down over the new glorious near HD improvement because there wasn't one. Everything just seems clearer and at the right aspect ratio. 2.35:1 doesn't look like I am looking through a slot in a mailbox anymore.
I'm not familiar with scaling at all or how this works, if its something my projector is doing (Mitsubishi HC3, pretty decent especially for only $800 new) or if its not really 720p but at the native resolution that is what my projector thinks it is getting fed. *shrugs*
